In Mandarin Chinese, sooner or later we will come across the famous classifiers, which are frequently used to describe and list different things.
Within the list of words that you find in our app, there are different types of objects, which have different shapes, sizes, and characteristics, for example, mountain, tree, coffee, table, and chair, among many others. When we say, “a coffee” or “three chairs”, we should apply these classifiers, for example, three chairs.
As you can see, “three chairs” requires the use of classifiers, and in this case, the classifier created for objects that have a handle is 把 bâ, which will be placed after the quantity and before the objects.
There are several types of objects that each have their own classifier.
